The Commission to Engage African Americans on Climate Change was announced on July 29, 2008, at a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

Commission on Climate Change is Established; Poll of African Americans'
Attitudes is Released

Experts on energy and the environment on July 29, 2008, announced the creation of the Commission to Engage African Americans on Climate Change (CEAC). They cited deep concerns about the effects of climate change on the African American community. The Commission will work with African Americans and others to understand the impact that climate change has on their communities, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to ensure that energy policies are fair to all Americans.
