Community Wide Approach to Promote the Prevention of Low Weight Babies

The Missouri Bootheel Healthy Start Regional Consortium Low Birth Weight Partnership Initiative will hold "Community Wide Approach to Promote the Prevention of Low Weight Babies" on Friday, April 9, 2010.  The conference will be held in the Clinton Building, 501 Campanella, Sikeston, MO.  It will address the incidence of low birth weight in the African American community, aiming to:

 

  • Identify social disparities associated with low birth weight
  • Create community partnerships to address low birth weight
  • Identify resources for funding to sustains partnership efforts
  • Identify pycho-social factors related to low birth weight.

 

Gina E. Wood, of the Health Policy Institute is one of the keynote speakers and will be speaking on The Courage to Love Commission, an HPI initiative addressing infant mortality.
