Benchmarking 101: Measuring Your Progress

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 || 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Benchmarking 101 is intended to help PLACE MATTERS teams understand and monitor their progress toward addressing social determinants of health. While all teams have established goals and objectives for their work, benchmarking can help teams assess their capacity to achieve objectives and highlight areas of strengths and/or deficiency. In this webinar, we will define and provide examples of benchmarks, review the Joint Center’s four-phase benchmarks for PLACE MATTERS team progress, and discuss examples of how teams can meet these benchmarks. We will also discuss how these benchmarks will be measured in CARTA’s evaluation of the PLACE MATTERS initiative.

At the end of this seminar, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the importance of benchmarking and articulate how it can assist teams;
  2. Understand the four-phase benchmarks for PLACE MATTERS; and
  3. Identify specific benchmarks for their team’s work to address social determinants of health.
