The Bernalillo County PLACE MATTERS team recently released a brochure that succinctly explains how race, income, and where you live can affect your ability to be healthy. In Bernalillo County immigrant and low income neighborhoods have heightened community risks and lower life expectancy. At their most extreme, neighborhood conditions contribute to a 22 year difference in life expectancy. These heightened community risks include environmental hazards that disproportionately affect the Hispanic community in Bernalillo.
