Prospect Researcher

Background:

The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies is a research and public policy organization, recognized as one of the nation’s premier think tanks on issues of concern to African Americans and other people of color. Through research and analysis in major areas of public policy, the Joint Center works to improve the status of black Americans and other minorities; expand their participation in political and public policy arenas; and promote communications across racial and ethnic lines.

Description:

Reporting to the Vice President for Development and Strategic Partnerships, the experienced prospect researcher will help execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, and major fundraising events. This is a newly created position that will be instrumental to building a robust individual donor program centered on major gifts.

Responsibilities:

The prospect researcher will generate prospect donor lists, screen lists to create an extensive prospect pool of likely individual donors for major gifts, and prepare prospect reports and briefs that will be used by the Vice President for Development and the President to develop strategies and solicitation requests for support. In addition, the prospect researcher will assist in creating an individual donor recognition strategy and developing protocols for stewardship activities to build relationships and engage individual donors on a consistent basis.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have commitment to the values and mission of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, curious, creative, and tenacious; able to multi-task in a highly results-oriented environment. Must be proficient using Microsoft Office and Excel. A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years prospect research experience is required. The successful candidate must have:
