Black Churches and the Faith-Based Initiative: What They Need to Know and What They Know
This issue brief is based on a Joint Center national survey of 750 black churches conducted between November 11, 2005 and January 24, 2006. The study was conducted to ascertain how black ministers view the Bush administration's Faith-Based and Community Initiative (FBCI). This issue brief focuses on how much information black ministers have about the FBCI, and whether the efforts of the White House Office of the FBCI and others have been effective in informing black ministers about the program. This information is important to black ministers with social ministries, organizations and individuals who have an interest in promoting those ministries, as well as those interested in promoting the efforts of the FBCI.
