Mental Health Links

Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV). Founded in 1992 to provide informed assistance to groups committed to understanding and preventing violence, particularly adolescent violence, CSPV is a research program of the Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Website contains a collection of research literature and resources on the topic of violence and updates about current research projects and strategies for violence prevention.

Partnerships Against Violence Network. A "virtual library" of information about violence and youth-at-risk, representing data from seven different Federal agencies. Violence prevention professionals can communicate and share resources through the Pavnet mailgroup.

Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA). The mission of the Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA) is to support research, education, and access to violence related resources. The site contains a clearinghouse with up-to-date educational resources about all types of violence, Violence against women online resources, and research examining the experiences of families in which both children and mothers have been maltreated.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service. NCJRS is a federally funded resource offering justice and substance abuse information to support research, policy, and program development worldwide. Sections include crime prevention and family violence.

The Child Molestation Research & Prevention Institute. A national science-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse through research, education, and family support. Focus is on providing information to professionals and to families about the early warning signs of a problem, as well as the availability of early diagnosis and effective treatment from a sex-specific specialist.

Child Witness to Violence Project. The Child Witness to Violence Project (CWVP) is a counseling, advocacy, and outreach project that focuses on the growing number of young children who are hidden victims of violence: children who are bystanders to community and domestic violence. The project began in 1992 and currently counsels over 200 children and their families each year, in addition to implementing both national and state-focused training for health care professionals, police, educators, and many other social service professionals who confront issues of children witnessing violence.

National Council on Child Abuse and Family Violence. The commitment of the National Council on Child Abuse & Family Violence (NCCAFV) is to intergenerational family violence prevention -- of child abuse, domestic violence (spouse/partner abuse) and elder abuse. NCCAFV provides public awareness and education materials, program and resource development consultation, and technical assistance and training in the United States and internationally.
