Game Changer: Ralph B. Everett

Ralph B. Everett is President and CEO of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, the nation’s leading think tank for policy analysis and research on issues concerning people of color. Just three years after assuming the role of President and CEO, The Media & Technology and Civic Engagement & Governance Institutes were launched in 2010 and 2011, respectively, under his leadership.

Prior to his current role at the Joint Center, he served in several capacities throughout the nation’s capital. He served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Ernest Hollings, as the Democratic Staff Director, Minority Chief Counsel, Committee Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. He also made history as the first African-American partner at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky, & Walker LLP. President Bill Clinton appointed Everett as U.S. Ambassador to the International Telecommunication Union’s Plenipotentiary Conference. He also led the U.S. Delegation to the Second World Telecommunication Development Conference in Malta and led the Obama-Biden Transition Project Agency Review Working Group, where the group was responsible for overseeing the Department of Commerce.
