The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and the National Health Policy Training Alliance for Communities of Color conducted a 90-minute webinar to release a new report, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010: Advancing Health Equity for Racially and Ethnically Diverse Populations, on August 23, 2010.
The report, prepared by Dr. Dennis Andrulis and Nadia Siddiqui of the Texas Health Institute, Jonathan Purtle of Drexel University School of Public Health, and Dr. Lisa Duchon of Health Management Associates, takes a comprehensive look at the 2010 health reform law to understand its implications for addressing health inequities. The report identifies areas where the law may significantly improve health and health care access and quality and reduce health inequities, as well as areas where more work is needed to fully eliminate inequities.
Dr. Andrulis presented his findings, followed by analysis from Dr. Cara James of the Kaiser Family Foundation and Rea Pañares of Families USA. Dr. Brian Smedley of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies served as moderator.
