The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a research and policy institution that focuses on the concerns of African Americans and other people of color, announced that Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will address its Annual Gala Dinner on Tuesday, May 7 at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C.
Under the banner – “Jobs. Partnership. Progress.” – the event is an opportunity for elected officials, business, civic and community leaders from across the country to celebrate the rise of African Americans in the nation’s political and civic life. More than 500 people are expected to be in attendance.
Remarks will be given by Vice President Joe Biden, Louis E. Martin Great American Award will be presented to Ambassador Susan E. Rice, and the JCPES Partnership Award will be presented to the Congressional Black Caucus, accepted by Chairwoman Marcia Fudge.
Recommended guest arrival time is 5:30 PM. Media with large cameras and other equipment are required to set up between 2:30 and 3:00 PM; other media are welcome to check in between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. Access to the dinner area will close at 6:30 PM.
