The Supreme Court and the Resegregation of America's Schools

The goal of integrated schools took another defeat in the Supreme Court’s June 2007 decision in the Louisville and Seattle voluntary desegregation cases. A divided Court held that the goal of integrated schools remained important, but that most of the efforts now used by school districts are
unconstitutional. This decision forces a revision in the plan that was a central part of Kentucky becoming the least segregated state in the nation for black students.
